Diablo3.com Update: Caldeum

Diablo3.com has indeed been updated. The page for Caldeum has been updated with a brilliant new animated header. The main page for Diablo already looked amazing and now it's taken to a whole new level. Blizzard always does an excellent job on their own game web sites, but this is the first time we've ever seen such an animated header other than the main page for Diablo. The web team has been very busy, but overall, excellent work!

Diablo III: The After Thoughts

The Diablo legacy is not one to be taken lightly, so when I heard that there was going to be a new Diablo game, I was excited and skeptical at the same time. There have been a lot of
games that try to feel like Diablo (Hellgate London, Guild Wars are just two of them) but they didn't really follow through. They attempted to take something that has been a part of
gaming for a long time, Dungeon Crawling, and turn it into something more "modern".

Wired Interviews Rob Pardo

Wired has published an interview with Rob Pardo(1) which touches base on numerous areas. Earlier in the interview Rob discusses the Wizard class and how it's shaping up. The interview then shifts to anti-hacking and the security of Diablo III and what Blizzard is doing to prevent it. Don confirms that the best DRM (Digital Rights Management) method is through their very own Battle.net. You have to have a legitimate copy in order to play online. And that alone being such a huge element to their games prevents most of the pirating. However they will be carrying over a modified version of Warden to prevent hacking in both Starcraft II and Diablo III. You can view the fill Rob Pardo interview on Wired.com.

Never Steal A Girl's Cupcake: The Wizard

During the opening ceremony of Blizzcon 2008, Blizzard announced
the third of five classes that will be appearing in Diablo 3. Their
announcement was a machinima
of the Wizard moving into Tristram and then down into the Minion of
Hell infested Church. The beginning of the video featured the Wizard
just walking, and thus
my mind was racing. I kept wondering what kind of Fireballs she would
throw, what kind of hell she would rain down without ever being
touched. I wanted to know
how Blizzard had changed the standard "wizard" into something new.
