Demon Hunter Damage Dealing

I was thinking a bit to myself about Demon Hunter and how she played in comparison to the other hero choices. I started comparing damage output and the basic feel of "power" that each hero wields.

The more I thought about it, the more I felt that the DH was underpowered. I know this is probably due to its under-developed state, but I couldn't help but look at how powerful every other character seems to be in comparison. The Barbarian tosses bodies left and right, the Monk has a lot of snappy moves, and the Wizard/Witch Doctor do masses of damage. What are your guys' current thoughts about where the Demon Hunter lies within the power continuum?

She does feel underpowered, but like you said, could be because of early development. Also, we only saw a few of her skills, so maybe she has some really powerful moves, but we haven't seen them yet.

I'm also curious about how the shackle shot will be modified with runes. Since the base skill links enemies together, I think that could potentially be the crux of dispersing a huge amount of damage to kill mobs.

Something like: extending the range of linked enemies and how many get linked with a single shot. Perhaps it could modify to create a "chain reaction." If the front target gets killed, it explodes. Any enemy that is killed by the explosion explodes, and so on. (I'm actually quite fond of that idea)

Some effects I think it could do:

Damage Link - every linked creature share X% damage if one (or more) of them is damaged.
DoT - linked creatures take X damage every Y seconds as long as they are chained.
Siphon? - drains (or heals the DH?) for X hp and/or mana as long as creatures are binded. Aka, more linked monsters, more hp and/or mana.
Multistrike - strikes a lot more targets (or maybe even bounces back to linked creatures for extra damage or extending the chained timer)

Or another one:

Frontload: The more creatures linked to the primary target of the chain, the more damage dealt to it.
Chained Elements: Linked targets will be affected by X element and cause Y damage or effect.

The damage link one you had mention is already how the skill works. You shoot, it links targets, and that damage is spread amongst the linked targets. :)

Oh... I didn't know that :( I thought it was just an immobilizing spell which dealt light damage on strike. Apparently it has a Spirit Link (Wc3) effect to it too. Well, works for me :D

I think a 'Shared Fate' effect would be cool, if not a little overpowered: poison one of the links, they all get poisoned, freeze one, they all freeze, kill one, they all kick the bucket :D

Actually, my bad. You were right. I re-read the skill. It's "Entangling Shot." It's weird, though because I could have sworn it dispersed damage over the targets. Maybe that's why she felt so weak...

Here's the link to the skills:

Then I suppose we can throw the Spirit Link effect back in then :D
I think a lowering of armor or amplify damage would also make great effects and make this skill very worthwhile.

Maybe Blizzard wants some uniqueness for each class. By looking at her, the DH seems to me like someone who's fast, clean and efficient and relies more on tactics rather than straight-on damage. You know, like a sniper. Or hunter. ;P

Yeah, but that shouldn't hinder her ability to progress at a similar pace.

Well, I wouldn't know how fast she can progress compared to other classes. Maybe the playstyle is meant to be different. Maybe she really is yet-to-be-fully developed. Hm.

Well I know the playstyle is different. But I hope that they're able to match her efficiency in killing demons with the other classes. I'm curious to see what they come up with.
