Daily Nooner: RedPriest vs Reven TvP FPVOD

On the same theme as Friday's Nooner, RedPriest is showing us how effective Terran's 1.5 tier Caster can be vs Protoss. There is a lot of talk about the terran race being over powered vs Protoss. From this video do you think that the Ghost's EMP ability (knocks off 100 shield within radius) makes this match-up uneven?

Spoiler: In case you guys are wondering Reven did see the Nuke coming, but I think he just gave up. I watched the replay from his point of view at the time and he clicked on the ghost and just watched as his army turned to dust.

Why would getting in their base be a problem when half the time they can't get out of their base? With the new macro mechanics for Protoss and Zerg beating terran is reduced to expanding and outproducing them, followed by a-move to their base.

I think Terrans are losing most of the time because the beta players don't know how to play it Terran to always win. That is, if M&M&M and Ghosts are as effective as Bloodari says they are.

It may also be that the Terrans just have a lacking in early game, but pwn in late game. I have no ideas on how to fix early game, but I do on late game. Since the ghost's EMP is so destructive it could have a 'draining' effect on shields. I.E.: lose shield over the course of 5 seconds. But keep in mind that all races have trouble healing quickly. Using psi storm, EMP, or Plague? (Zerg equivalent?) against all races has a dramatic effect. Not unbalanced in that case.

It might just be me but terrans are the hardest race for me, I literally dread seeing them in 1's. I have to go zealots with leg upgrade to counter marines, marauders, and medivacs. This works out well for stopping that but the problem comes in when I try and attack. I simply can't get in their base. Many solo maps the only entrance is one ramp that can barely fit 2 zealots on the ramp, and the top is blocked by supply depots. 2 zealots can't bring down that supply depot with just one scv repairing it. Even though I just killed his entire army he most likely will have some marines and a tank or two by the time i get to his base. One tank will wreck my entire army trying to get in, so I have to back off. One tank with a turret to keep observers away is a ridiculous defense, because I can't shoot the danm tank unless I can see it. I could go drop ships, but it would require a ridiculous amount to get enough units in to win a fight inside the base, and half the time they have sensor towers up. All of the above is not even bringing ghosts to play, which makes it even worse. Now maps that have the backdoor aren't nearly so bad but it seems like those rarely come up in rotation.

I agree terran could probably have trouble with zerg, but toss? I didn't realize instantly reducing an entire army to half AND draining all energy from my casters AND revealing any of my invisible units all in one spell was a simple gimmick.

I'm also very annoyed by the ridiculously unrush friendly layout of most 1v1 maps. It only helps give Protoss and Zerg more macro advantage.

Drones are the only Zerg ground unit not affected by the speed boost. Other than that, I agree with Shadowy here, Terrans seem to be very fragile atm.

And Bloodari's post was hilarious, although exagerated.

I'm not saying it isn't effective, but nerfed? Terran are the weakest race at the moment. Macro? Even with mules, Zerg completely overpowers them due to the bloody speed bonus on creep (yes drones gather faster than any other worker) and spawn larva, with chrono boost the Toss always have an economic advantage too. If anything Terran are underpowered, a lot vs Zerg and badly gimped to a few tricks vs Toss.

Have you looked at ghosts lately? EMP round is ridiculous, in many cases half a protoss units life is shields, which are normally right around or less than 100. EMP round can basically bring your ENTIRE army to half health if used at the right moment. Hell if nothing else it makes the immortals passive useless. On top of this it reveals invisible, oh hey a DT, one EMP later oh hey some dead DT's. Whats that, a high templar, snipe! I don't see any high templar. Next up Cannons, let me pull this nuke out of my back pocket, what cannons? I sure wish toss had a unit that could serve as many functions as the ghost can. Hell even high templar only do 80 damage via psi storm and thats really their only use.

If nothing else EMP needs to be nerfed badly, either remove the AOE and make it single target or reduce the amount it kills shields because its a game breaker for toss right now.

Hehe I have played several games against RedPriest's ghost rush (as protoss and Zerg), and it is hard to beat.

I don't know where they are ranked in their leagues, but I think they are gold.

I'll need to see this from the point of the protoss but it was more of him being bad than the ghost being overly effective, IMO.

What league is the rep from?

I really agree with blizzard that terrans are little bit under power. In original star craft I get wiped out by protoss always no matter what I do.
